The fundamental components of DC charging piles include: power unit, control unit, metering unit, charging interface, power supply interface, and human-machine interaction interface. The power unit refers to the DC charging module, and the control unit refers to the charging pile controller.

As a system integration product, the DC charging pile itself, in addition to the two components of "DC charging module" and "charging pile controller" forming the technical core, structural planning is also one of the key points in the overall reliability planning of the pile. The "charging pile controller" belongs to the category of embedded hardware and software technology, while the "DC charging module" represents the high achievement of power electronics technology in the AC/DC field.

The fundamental process of charging is to apply a DC voltage at both ends of the battery to charge it with a stable high current. The voltage of the battery gradually and slowly rises, reaching a certain level. When the battery voltage reaches the standard value and the SoC reaches 95% or more (different for different batteries), it continues to charge the battery with a constant voltage and low current.

The voltage has increased, but the battery is not fully charged, which means it is not sufficient. If there is time, a small current can be used to fully charge. In order to achieve this charging process, the charging station requires a "DC charging module" to provide DC power supply; The requirement is for a "charging pile controller" to control the "power on, power off, output voltage, and output current" of the charging module; There is a need for a "touch screen" as the human-machine interface to issue commands.
